God, Life, Religion

transitions“‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.'” – Jeremiah 29:11

The past 6 months or so have been a blur. The server hosting my blog crashed and has yet to be fixed (so I’m now hosting with Bluehost), the Oregon Conference transitioned me out of youth ministry and into “regular” pastoral ministry. It has been a tough transition as all of my ministry thus far has been focused on youth.

The challenges of being reassigned to a two church district from youth ministry are enormous. My wife and I have had many late nights talking of the frustrations of transitioning from youth ministry to “regular” ministry. But the blessings I have received for the most part have outweighed the frustrations.

The two churches I am working with are two smaller churches which for the last few years have been in limbo. Due to some conference decisions the pastoral assignments given to each church was somewhat up in the air and the conference was finally able to solidify it now.

Six months in and I have found that I am starting to love the people at both churches. Things are (somewhat) starting to settle down and I am starting to get into a routine. But there are still aspects of youth ministry that I will always miss. And as we’re getting into another school year I find myself wishing to be back as a youth pastor, able to spend my time at the school with the students. But alas, God has closed that door for now.

Now it’s board meetings, church issues, and leading two churches. Thank goodness God hasn’t left me alone!

  1. God has plans for you that you don’t even know yet. Hang in there. He promises to make all things beautiful in His time.
